Medical-grade paramedical pigmentation that blends scars and areas of lost skin colour seamlessly with surrounding tissue — reducing visibility and restoring confidence.
The Technique
Scar camouflage is a paramedical cosmetic tattoo technique that uses skin-tone matched pigment to reduce the visual contrast between scarred tissue and healthy surrounding skin. By carefully implanting pigment into areas of hypopigmentation — where skin has lost its natural colour — the treated area is brought visually closer to the skin around it.
Scars from surgery, injury, burns, acne, or skin conditions can leave lasting marks that no topical product can address. Scar camouflage does not remove the scar or change its texture — but it can dramatically reduce how visible it is, particularly in areas where the colour contrast is the primary source of distress.
At Monarch, every scar camouflage treatment begins with a thorough assessment of the scar's age, texture, depth, and your skin tone across different lighting. Daniela custom-blends pigment to achieve the most natural possible match — working conservatively to build colour gradually across sessions.

Ideal Candidates
Scar camouflage suits a wide range of presentations — here is who tends to benefit most.
Scars from caesarean sections, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, and other procedures respond well to camouflage once fully healed and stable.
Scars from accidents, burns, or lacerations — particularly those in visible areas such as the face, neck, or arms — can be significantly reduced in visibility.
Areas of skin that have lost pigment due to scarring, vitiligo (stable patches), or post-inflammatory changes can be addressed through careful colour placement.
Post-acne hypopigmentation — pale patches left behind after severe acne — is a common presentation that responds well to paramedical pigmentation.
Where stretch marks have caused significant texture and colour change, a combined stretch mark and scar camouflage approach may be recommended.
Clients who have undergone mastectomy or breast reconstruction often find scar camouflage a meaningful step in their recovery and restoration journey.
Your Experience
Scar camouflage is a gradual process. Daniela works conservatively across multiple sessions to achieve a natural, lasting result.
Not all scars are suitable for camouflage at the time of consultation. Daniela assesses the scar's maturity, texture, and stability. Scars must be fully healed — typically 12–18 months old — before treatment can begin.
Pigment is custom-blended to match your surrounding skin under natural light. This is the most technically demanding aspect of the treatment and requires significant expertise to execute well.
A small test area is treated first to assess how your skin and scar tissue respond to the pigment. This is an important step before committing to full treatment.
Once the patch test heals satisfactorily, full sessions proceed. Pigment is worked into the scar tissue methodically, building colour gradually.
Results are assessed at each healed stage. Most scars require 2–4 sessions. Some highly textured or raised scars may require more sessions or may not be suitable for full camouflage.
Post-Treatment Care
Scar tissue heals differently to healthy skin. Careful aftercare is essential between sessions to protect the pigment and support the best possible outcome.
Avoid water immersion for 7 days. Keep the treated area clean and covered from sun exposure and friction.
Retinol, AHAs, BHAs, and physical exfoliants must be avoided near the treated area for at least 4 weeks post-session.
UV exposure is the primary cause of pigment fading. Broad-spectrum SPF 50+ should be applied daily to treated areas once healed, ongoing.
Scar tissue can be prone to sensitivity during healing. Do not disturb the area — let the skin complete its healing cycle undisturbed.
Investment
Scar camouflage is priced based on the size, complexity, and location of the scar, and the number of sessions required. All quotes are provided at consultation.

Frequently Asked
Not all scars are suitable candidates. Raised or keloid scars, very fresh scars, and scars in certain locations may not respond well. Daniela will give you an honest assessment at consultation — she will not proceed if the outcome is unlikely to meet expectations.
Scars must be fully healed and stable before treatment can begin — typically at least 12–18 months old. Fresh, red, or actively changing scars are not suitable. The scar must be in its final, stable state for pigment to settle predictably.
Most treatments require 2–4 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart. Highly textured, deeply pigmented, or large scars may require more. Daniela provides a realistic session estimate at your initial consultation.
The goal is to reduce visibility significantly — not to make the scar invisible. Colour contrast is the primary target; texture differences remain. Most clients find the result dramatically improves their confidence and comfort, even if the scar remains somewhat detectable on close inspection.
Topical numbing is applied before each session. Scar tissue varies in sensitivity — some areas are less sensitive than surrounding skin, others more so. Most clients find the procedure entirely manageable.
